Chairperson Search
Wetzel outlined the general responsibilities of the chairperson role, and she and Walsh each stressed the impact having no chair has had on our progress. Bodfish agreed to speak with his management about taking the role, and he is willing to have a further conversation with Walsh and Wetzel.
[Editor’s Note: In a message received after the call, Dicus also agreed to speak with his management about taking the role, and he, too, is willing to have a further conversation with Walsh and Wetzel.]
Gray asked if anyone has contacted SirsiDynix about naming a replacement member for Wanner. Walsh indicated no contact had been made, and Gray volunteered to raise the issue with someone he knows at SirsiDynix.
Update on the NCIP 2.01 Revision
Wetzel reported that the final edits are taking longer than expected because the index is not formatted to be dynamically linked to the content. Therefore, she is having to manually rebuild the index. Walsh indicated that, as part of the next revision cycle, the index will be updated to be dynamic.
Open Discussion
Leckbee reported that Innvoative would like to update the DCB profile currently available on the NCIP website. He will send the updated document to Walsh, Walsh will post it to the documents area of the NISO site, and Walsh will then provide a link to the updated document on the NCIP site.
Leckbee also reported that Innovative has made significant progress with Relais using NCIP Version 2. A beta version has been installed at Dartmouth, and both companies are rapidly moving forward with testing.
Leckbee further reported that Innovative is planning another NCIP project with Baker & Taylor. Work on this should commence after the PALCI and Melcat projects are live.
Gray reported that Polaris installed five new libraries in Maryland using NCIP Version 1.
Gray also reported that he has a NCIP Version 2.01 responder available for testing. It responds to Lookup User and Accept Item messages.
Gray further reported that Polaris has been testing in Michigan with Innovative as part of the Melcat project. This, too, is a Version 1 installation.
Wetzel reported that NISO will hold a general standards update session at ALA Midwinter on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at 2 pm. Barr volunteered to provide a brief update on NCIP. He will coordinate with Walsh and Wetzel on the content.
