- OCLC: expect to begin testing with an Evergreen library sometime next week. When testing is completed, OCLC expects the site to move immediately into production. - eXtensible Catalog: Lehigh (PALCI) is live with the NCIP Toolkit. A customer in Japan is preparing to go live with version 1 and hope to port to version 2 sometime next year.
Progress of NCIP 2.02 Revision
- All of the changes identified at the April meeting have been incorporated, and the drafts of the two documents are ready to go to NISO for final editing.
- Anyone with additional comments or feedback should send them to Walsh, and he will forward them to NISO for inclusion.
Documentation
- Introduction to NCIP: ready to be published in the public NISO workroom for NISO. A public URL can then be linked from the NCIP website.
- NCIP RFP Writer's Guide: ready to be published; NISO will incorporate this into the RFP Writer’s Guide. Lagace will discuss this further with Cynthia Hodgson.
Membership Issues
- Cook’s request to join the Standing Committee is pending approval by the Discovery to Delivery Topic Committee
Additional Discussion
- Jackson reported that she is working on a report that presents statistics showing the time (and cost) savings experienced by some libraries as a result of using NCIP
- Cook asked if there are any open, pending change requests. Walsh indicated that the only item deferred from the April meeting was the addition of a Lookup Item Set service. Bodfish is planning to prepare a formal proposal outlining the details for that new service, so it will come up in the future as a new change request.
Upcoming Dates and Deadlines
- Change requests for discussion at the fall meeting in October, 2011 are due by August 1, 2011. These may be sent to the open NCIP list, the NCIP Standing Committee list, or to Walsh.
- The next call is Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 1:00 pm Eastern.
