III – PALCI implementation is nearly complete and are beginning to collaborate with 3M. MELCAT implementation is also nearly complete.
Auto-Graphics – moving forward with MELCAT and III. Have completed testing with TLC.
eXtensible Catalog – planning a release of the NCIP Toolkit for late 2011 with another targeted for early 2012.
Polaris – have implemented Version 1.0 with MELCAT and III. Are working with Baker & Taylor and have tested with OCLC Vdx.
Ex Libris – are nearly ready to test Voyager against OCLC
II. Status of revised documents
NCIP 2.02 Revision
Drafts of the NCIP v2.02 revision documents have been posted to the NISO website. Feedback will be accepted through November 30, and comments may be posted to the list, on the website itself, or to Walsh directly.
Bodfish and Cook will prepare a draft schema for v2.02 (particularly the changes necessary for the Lookup Item Set service) and send to O’Brien.
Introduction to NCIP
The group decided that this document would more effective if it were converted to an on-line format and posted to the NCIP website. Walsh agreed to undertake this task.
RFP Writers Guide
The original NISO RFP Writers Guide is not slated for any updates in the near future. The plan, then, is to publish the revised section dealing with NCIP and post it alongside the original. The abstract will make it clear that the separate NCIP section supersedes the NCIP section in the original document.
III. Implementer Registry
NISO is willing to provide hosting services for an NCIP Implementers Registry, but they are unable to provide any assistance with migration or maintenance. Since no one in the group has the necessary expertise to handle the migration, the group decided that Gray will work with Campbell to coordinate a transfer of the hosting of the current site (at webenabled.net). Sandstrum will assume the responsibility for maintenance of the site. This is intended to be a short-term solution. Longer-term, the group will re-evaluate the registry, determine what a next-generation version should look like, and then determine how to effectively deliver a revised site given the technical skills available to the group.
NISO may be willing to provide financial support for short-term 3rd party hosting.
IV. Next meetings:
a. Monthly call -- December 15, 2011 @ 1 pm Eastern time (U.S.)
b. In-person meeting -- Spring 2012 (TLC)
Marsh is working on arrangements for the spring meeting. It will be held April 25-26, 2012, at the Wyndham Hotel in Winchester, VA. A block of rooms has been reserved at a rate of $99/night. Marsh will post additional information to the list as it becomes available, and Walsh will compile the information and post it to the NCIP website.
